Quad ATVs Are Eight Times Louder Than Rungu Dualie®

According to Grok Ai and our experience

In general, Electric bikes (E-Bikes) are dramatically quieter than quad ATVs (four-wheel all-terrain vehicles). Here’s a realistic comparison based on typical real-world measurements and user reports:

Vehicle TypeTypical Noise Level (at full throttle, ~10–20 m away)Perceived Loudness vs. E-BikeMain Noise Sources
Class 1/2 e-bike (250–750 W, pedal-assist or throttle)50–62 dBBaseline (very quiet)Tire hum, light chain/whisper from mid-drive, almost silent hub motors. Rungu Dualie fits in this category
Class 3 e-bike (750 W, up to 28 mph)58–68 dBSlightly noticeableMore tire noise + wind
Typical gas quad ATV (300–700 cc, 4-stroke)85–100 dB8–64× louderExhaust, engine roar
High-performance sport quad (e.g., Yamaha Raptor 700)95–108 dB30–200× louderOpen exhaust, very aggressive
Quietest production quads (with stock muffler & airbox)~82–90 dBStill 4–16× louder than a good e-bikeEven “quiet” gas quads are loud

How much quieter is Rungu Dualie in practical terms?

  • Rungu Dualie is roughly 30 dB quieter than a normal gas quad ATV.
  • Every 10 dB is perceived as roughly twice/half as loud, so 30 dB quieter ≈ sounds 1/8 th as loud
  • Under load, you mostly hear tires and the hum of Rungu®’s 1120W motor.  But as an observer, you’re more likely to hear the rattle of unsecured items on the cargo rack (see our Gold Mountain YouTube). A gas quad is unmistakably loud even from hundreds of yards away and usually requires ear protection for the rider.

Exceptions and notes

  • Ultra-high-power E-Bikes like Surron, and electric dirt bikes (5–20 kW) with knobby tires can reach 70–80 dB.
  • Aftermarket exhausts on quads routinely push 100–110+ dB (painfully loud).
  • Electric quads/UTVs exist now (Polaris Ranger EV, some Chinese models), and they are essentially as quiet as e-bikes (55–70 dB).

Bottom line

Rungu Dualie is at least 8 times quieter (in human perception) than a gasoline Quad ATV. On trails, an Rungu Dualie often blends into background noise, while a quad announces itself from a mile away.
