Rungu Dualie® vs. Quad ATV
If you are looking to use the full horsepower of a Quad ATV to plow a field, clear snow from a road, or race off-road, get a gas-powered ATV.
No need to read any further.
If you’re looking at a Quad ATV for scouting, hunting or handling difficult off-road terrain. Get Rungu Dualie. It's 20x better.
Quad ATVs cost a lot to maintain, are difficult to transport, have limited access on public land and are eight times louder than Rungu Dualie. E-ATVs maybe quiet, but weigh even more, have 40%-60% less range and have the same access restrictions.
Rungu designs and builds ATVs that happen to be E-Bikes.
Rungu Dualie outperforms Quad ATVs (and E-ATVs) on challenging terrain. It's easier to store and transport. Rungu Dualie costs less to maintain, triples public land access, can tow up to 300 lbs. and is as quiet as an E-ATV.
Choose an off-road category below. Learn why Rungu Dualie is your best choice.

Size
You can fit 3 Rungu Dualies in the back of a pickup. They don't weigh much either.
Skill
Rungu Dualie takes less skill to master.
Skill
Quad ATVs are easy to learn, and easy to roll over. Ouch.
Towing capability
Rungu Dualie tows up to 300 lbs. One-third the capacity of an ATV.
Towing Capability
Rungu Dualie can tow a truck, but it’s designed to tow a deer.
Maintenance Cost
Operate Rungu Dualie at half the life-time cost of a recreational Quad ATV.
Maintenance Cost
Rungu Dualie requires no oil, no gas. Transport and maintenance make Rungu Dualie a no-brainer.

E-ATV Compare
Rungu Dualie: more energy efficient, better capabilities and lighter weight than an E-ATV.
E-ATV Compare
Quad E-ATVs weigh 30% more than gas-powered versions killing their utility as recreational vehicles. Read why Rungu Dualie wins hands down.
Public Land Access
Watch Rungu Dualie on a motorcycle trail too narrow for a Quad ATV
Far more stable. Far more able. Far more public land access.
Path width lets Rungu Dualie access 20% of the off-road trails off-limits to Quad ATVs. There are approximately 50,000 to 60,000 miles of off-road trails in the US. And 10,000 miles of these trails are for motorcycles only. Too narrow for a Quad ATV. Rungu Dualie works on Motorcycle trails; Quad ATV’s do not.
OHV restrictions on federal lands triple Rungu Dualie’s public land access. Since 2015, US and state governments have restricted motorized vehicles (Quad ATVs, motorcycles) in more than 350 state and federal hunting grounds. E-Bikes (like Rungu Dualie) have access to bicycle trails that prohibit motorized vehicle access. And there are up to 100,000 more miles of these trails in state and federal wildlife habitats. 100,000 more miles Rungu Dualie can access than a Quad ATV!
“I took my Rungu Dualie Rugged to the mountains of Colorado and it kept up, if not, out-performed the ATVs the other guys brought. What a great product!"
– Justin C. bought Rungu Dualie for hunting, Potterville, MI
Apart from formal restrictions, Rungu Dualie performs better than Quad ATVs on difficult terrain.
As an example, In 2018, after completing the Rubicon Trail in California, Rungu Dualie completed and documented Hell's Revenge trail in Moab, UT. At least two Quad ATV rollovers resulting in three publicly documented fatalities occurred on the trail. The Bureau of Land Management now prohibits Quad ATVs from riding Hell's Revenge. Cost of Ownership
Transporting three Rungu Dualies in a truck costs less than carrying one Quad ATV
One half the lifetime ownership cost
Rungu Dualie costs half as much to own as a Quad ATV. Though the Rungu Dualie® list price can be two/thirds the cost of an ATV (Avg. price of $6,500 vs $9,500), gas and maintenance far outweigh the maintenance and electrical costs of owning Rungu Dualie. The biggest costs of ATVs come from transport. You can transport three Rungu Dualies in the bed of a pickup. One Quad ATV requires either a trailer or special truck bed rack that adds thousands to lifetime cost. One Quad ATV weighs five times more than Rungu Dualie. More weight to transport. More fuel cost.

Some Skill Required
Watch an excerpt from Rungu Dualie's four-part training series
Easier to master than a Quad ATV. Easier to learn than a Dirtbike
A Quad ATV is easy to learn, but dangerous and difficult to master.
On and Off-road, Quad ATVs require significant skills to avoid disaster. Quad ATVs roll-over and throw drivers when cornering on road. In 2024, at least 21% (89/420) of all ATV fatalities in the US resulted from an on-road rollover (up from 17% in 2020). Quad ATVs can flip and crush you for similar weight distribution reasons off-road. At least 74 ATV fatalities in 2024 resulted from a single vehicle crash off-road.
Dirt Bikes are difficult to learn but with skill, training and experience, they have better capabilities on and off-road than an ATV.
Rungu Dualie is much easier to learn than a Dirt Bike, but requires more initial education than a Quad ATV. For that reason, every new Rungu Dualie customer receives access to a four-part series of videos that teach how to ride Rungu Dualie. The first two parts explain how to operate Rungu Dualie and adapt to the Rungu Dualie riding experience. The second two show how to navigate and optimize operation in difficult terrain.
Single-front-wheel E-Bikes are not the answer. At less than two horsepower, E-Bikes don't have enough power to "throttle-out" of trouble like Dirt Bikes. With a single-front-wheel, they lack the stability and control of a Quad ATV on sand, snow, mud and rocky terrain.
Rungu Dualie is not just another E-BIke. Rungu Dualie outperforms E-Bikes on all terrain. Click on the link below to learn more.
Rungu Dualie Is Much Lighter
Light enough to load on a rack or on top of your gear
An E-ATV you can load in the back of your truck!
Recreational/sport Quads can weigh more than five times as much as Rungu Dualie. Adult recreational/sport Quad ATVs range from 550 lbs. to 820 lbs. (tanked up and ready to ride). At 92 pounds, Rungu Dualie Steep weighs less than one fifth the lightest model. Remove the battery (easy-to-do) and Rungu Dualie Steep now weighs only 80 lbs.
A 92 lbs., Rungu Dualie transports easier than a 550 lb Quad ATV. Rungu developed a hitch rack with 1UP USA that mounts to a 2” receiver. Other options work too. Check the link below to our blog post on how to transport Rungu Dualie for the latest options.
Rungu Dualie - one-third the footprint
Even fully assembled, Rungu Dualie is less than half the volume of a single Quad ATV.
Quick release wheels make Rungu Dualie even smaller
A fully assembled Rungu Dualie has one third the footprint of a Quad ATV. Quad ATVs have an average footprint of roughly 84–86 inches long × 47–48 inches wide (about 2.15 m × 1.20 m). Rungu Dualie has the same projected length, but has a path width only 14 inches wide
Rungu Dualie has quick-release front wheels that shrink the footprint even more. With the front wheels removed, three Rungu Dualies can fit in the bed of a pickup truck or on top of other gear (see images above). It’s even possible to store one inside of an SUV. With the battery and wheels removed, Rungu Dualie Steep weighs only 60 lbs.

If it can tow a truck, Rungu Dualie can tow a deer.
Watch Rungu Dualie pull a truck
A Lot of Torque for an E-Bike
In 2024, we filmed Rungu Dualie towing a Dodge Ram 1500. Rungu Dualie towed it from a standstill across a parking lot. Though a truck weighs more than the 300 lb. towing capacity of Rungu Dualie, the torque and frame strength are there.
Rungu Dualie offers three trailer/towing options.
- Tow hitch. Since 2020, Rungu has provided a tow-hitch option for the cargo rack it has been the preferred method of towing ATV trailers and deer carts with tow bars. The towing capacity is 300 lbs.
- Rungu Deer Cart. This two-wheel trailer attaches to the frame of Rungu Dualie and does not require a cargo rack for deployment. However with a cargo rack, Rungu you can strap a disassembled cart to the back for later deployment. The Deer Cart has a capacity of 200 lbs.
- Rungu Cargo Trailer. Rungu Cargo Trailer uses a single-rear wheel - an ideal choice for off-road, rutted trails and more difficult terrain. Like the Deer Cart, Cargo Trailer does not need a Cargo Rack for deployment. Rungu Cargo Trailer has its own kickstand. You can park the trailer while you scout terrain. Rungu Cargo Trailer has a capacity of 90 lbs.
Click on the link below to watch Rungu Dualie tow 90 lbs. up more than 2,000 feet over 12 miles on a jeep trail.
Quad ATVs - Eight Times Louder than Rungu Dualie
One of Rungu Dualie's Many Adventure Ride Examples of Quiet Off-Roading
E-ATV quiet
Quad ATVs are at least eight times as loud as Rungu Dualie. Rungu Dualie blends in with the background noise. Quad ATVs announce themselves hundreds of yards away.
Whether you’re hunting or off-roading, silence is golden. Hunters report how game tends to be curious when riding Rungu Dualie versus high-tailing away when approaching with a Quad ATV.
Off-road riding Rungu Dualie, you'll enjoy the terrain without the constant rumble of an engine - it gets old. Off-road, you’ll hear an ATV, SxS or Dirt Bike hundreds of yards away before you see one. Plenty of time for you to get out of the way if they're coming toward you, or more likely, plan where you’ll overtake when you're on difficult terrain!

Rungu Dualie - at least 18x Better than Typical E-ATVs
19 Off-Road Miles, 475 Wh, Mixed Terrain and ATV trails
More efficient off-road range, 1/6th the weight and all the access
E-ATVs weigh much more. Typical E-ATVs weight 150 to 270 lbs. more than the wet-weight of their gas-powered counterparts. Think about that fact when considering transport options, and Rungu Dualie becomes a no-brainer.
Lithium Ion battery powered E-ATVs have less real off-road range than Rungu Dualie. Gas-power ATVs deliver 14 times more energy per unit weight than battery-powered systems in E-ATVs. The combination of added weight and inefficiency kill off-road E-ATV range. Typical E-ATVs advertise15-35 miles per charge in moderate off-road conditions.
Rungu Dualie's single-battery models have equivalent stock range, but are much more efficient. But, Rungu Dualie weighs one sixth of a typical E-ATV requiring much less energy to move in difficult terrain. Stock range is equivalent to what E-ATVs achieve off-road. But adding a battery (or two) doubles (or triples) your off-road range with only 15% more weight per battery!
